I'm curious. Everyone seems to hate "intellectuals". So whom do they like, boka people?
I always thought an intellectual was a "thinker". Albeit, a logical thinker...a little scholarly even. Now why go call all the snobs, superbrats and struggling poets intellectuals? Jhola and Kurta maneyi antel? I mean come on, what's with the myopia? Some people pretend yes, but why call them antels? I think it's wonderful to be an antel. The world needs more thinkers....

i thot intellectual was actually a short form of pseudo-intellectual... where the pseudo part got eroded due to regular usage, but the connotations stuck...

Gairik why would you choose a name like The Absolutist? And forget that...there are so many things that yous ay or do that makes you an intellectual. And I mean it in the true sense of the word. Oh and the boka people, just for the record constitute mostly of these "pseudo antels". But anyway... each to his own I suppose.

(tui english student, i hated to take the audacity to tell you this, but...) a word loses it's real meaning with usage my dear, and the popular meaning becomes its reality. why else do you think people like gairik or balarka hate intellectuals? not even bothering to use the word within parenthesis?

TBC - Well I guess I'm just old school then. And Balarka thinks antels and pseudo antels are all alike, so nevermind that.
But...come to think of it, I don't think Pseudo-antels always get it that they are pseudo antels and nor do intellectuals always comprehend that they are intellectuals oi bhabe. It's just the way some people think I suppose. So Balarka, perhaps there was some profound logic behind the statement(or not).

in the true sense of the word, an intellectual is NOT a pseudo-intellectual...i guess, ppl got jealous of them and started calling them pseudo-intellectuals and in the porcess made better pseudo-intellectuals out of themselves...I guess it's all mixed up now...difficult to differentiate actual pseudos from the accused pseudos...
