kiss and tell

I was watching Breakfast at Tiffany's today (again, yes) and besides being one of those movies I'll never get tired of watching, it's also got one of the best Hollywood kisses at the end. You know, in the rain, with Cat in the middle. Also, I was wondering all these days who A looks like - and I figured, if you photoshop him a bit (ok a lot), he'll look like George Peppard (Paul - Fred baby - Varjak). But Daaah-ling, never mind. I'm the hysterical kind of happy a person becomes after a disastrous exam and an overdose of uber-romantic films. Also, there's a storm outside - and storms always make me happy.
Here's my list of favourite kisses - and yes, they're all corny and tasteless - like all good Rom Coms should be:
  • Holly Golightly and Fredy Baby (with Cat) in Breakfast at Tiffany's
  • Scarlett and Rhett Butler - Gone with the Wind (the mad one, at the foot of the stairs)
  • Brick and Maggie - Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (that last scene y'know - "shut the door Maggie" - oh shit)
  • Bridget Jones and Mark Darcy (the thong-snow kiss) - Bridget Jones' Diary
  • Jerry Maguire and Dorothy Boyd - Jerry Maguire (That kiss in the porch - where he goes "oops' and accidentally tears the straps of her dress. You know... before Tom Cruise lost it, and had that entire mid-life crisis thing, he had always been a bit of a benchmark for 'hot'. Even before Brad Pitt and other pretty boys happened - there was Mr. Cruise - in all his Cocktail glory)
  • Dr. William and Alice Harford (Tom and Nicole *sigh*) - Eyes Wide Shut (please - Baby did a bad bad thing and all the mirror-making-out didn't mindfuck you?)
  • Ok I forget their names but - Mel Gibson and Goldie Hawn - Bird on a Wire ( it's not a particularly memorable film, but there was that one kiss, where he went "shut up" and wham. I'm pathetic, I know. But *sigh*)
  • Richard Gere and Julia Roberts - Pretty Woman (well obviously duh)
  • Hugh Grant (what's a Romcom without him? Although I liked him best in About a Boy) and Julia Roberts - Notting Hill (it was coming you know. Gleep. It's not even funny how many times, how many fucking times, I've seen this hugely predictable movie)
Ok I should stop! But feel free to add your favourites - I don't believe for a minute you don't watch the soppy stuff.

Sudu - nerd. and yes. Spiderman - ze upside down kiss.

V - OMG! I cannot believe I didn't mention the Anne Heche-Johnny Depp kiss!!!!!! I LOVE THAT! There aren't exclamation marks enough here. Whew. Even the Roux-Vianne kiss. In that boat. I love.

Oh oh. I have this huge thing for Pierce Brosnan, but funnily, none of the Bond kisses or Thomas Crown kisses (although admittedly, whatta butt) make me go weak in the knees - But - I love all the Remington Steele kisses. Laura Holt and Mr. Steel. Damn, they don't make screwball capers like that anymore.

Oh! And the Kevin-Winnie kiss from Wonder Years. On that fallen tree trunk thing. The "aww" est moment in the history of television.

Haha...you like the GWTW scene? You know Clarke Gable had notoriously bad breath and Vivien Leigh hated doing that scene. I think there's an ad even where he's trying to kiss her and she is turning away for his breath.
You watched Remington Steele. Wow! Hardly anyone knows about it these days.
Aar yeah, that Kevin-Winnie scene...very spontaneous.
Also, if you're into Buffy/Angel, there's an episode - "I'll remember you" where Angel gets his soul back and his curse is lifted, for a day. There are some mindfuckingly awesome scenes there.

"Even the Roux-Vianne kiss. In that boat. I love." - absolutely.Thought Id mention.dunno why didn't.

All the Meg Ryan mush,ALL of it.Oh mannnn.Mush and if I may add, fuzzz.Mush fuzz and Meg sort of go together, no?

Theres sooo much more. This is my fav. post in blogosphere in the recent past.Dangerous, addictive stuff I say.

And yes.Pierce Brosnan .And the Bond kisses. They be too engineered and cold,so, your reaction.
There was this particular Brosnan starring thing. He had this uber cool bike in it.And all I remember is mindless chasing, adult stuff and me gawking.

For some extremely obscure reason , my dad and bro tried convincing me Brosnan was one of the ugliest men on tv.

RIM - Oh yeah, sheta shobai jane. The infamous bad breath and the cold vibes off the screen = mindblowing chemistry and one oscar award.
Remington Steele is one of my all time favourite TV shows - I even have the season 1 DVD for the sake of posterity. Pierce Brosnan was my first love (ok second - the first was *ahem* Rishi Kapoor)

Vatsala, I think your brother and father wanted to protect your innocence or something like that. I mean, calling Pierce Brosnan ugly, takes a fair amount of imagination, otherwise.

Dee would like to add the Patrick Swayze and Baby ("don't put Baby in a corner") kiss from Dirty Dancing. Hear hear!

Arreh RS is totally phataphati. The whole "living dangerously" and "mysterious past" concepts.

And, in the context of an earlier post on this blog, Pierce Brosnan is Irish too, nah? :P

Haha, very much so :)
My fascination with the Irish began very early in life.
